Still kicking..... ALSO, DON GIOVANNI RECORDS SHOWCASE!!!

Hey gang and purveyors of good fortune! Welcome to the new year, another year of living and continuing to fight the good fight. As in the past, we've let the brick mower blog deteriorate from time to time in between action and thinking of snarky gobbldegook to write.

BUT, we are dropping a line to update this and let you know we are still kicking, working on a whole new batch of songs, and working towards LP # 4.... possibly an EP or 7'' before that. But the road stretches ahead and we're paving it with tiny bricks of songs. The world needs more songs, right?

In relevant news, we are excited to announce that we're playing this year's Don Giovanni Records Showcase at the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn, NY.  We're playing night #2 w/ California X, Downtown Boys, Pink Wash, Worriers, Nuclear Santa Claust, and Alice.  WHOA!

Tickets for our show, along with 2 night passes, are currently on sale here: TICKETS

Also, as talked about on the massively popular social media platform, Facebook, we have announced that our long time drummer Steve is no longer with us. We amicably split ways as Steve went on to pursue a career in the baking world. Godspeed Steve and forward march to glory.

Thanks for seeing us through. I'll update this thing soon enough. Show list is also updated, in case you wanna figure out just what day you saw us sweat bullets behind the microphones. Take it EEEEEZZZZzzzzzz

SAD HOUSES video premiere

Hey gang.  Been sometime yet again. Whelp, had a nice summer did ya? Well that's just swell.

SO anyways, we are still firin' away. Got some upcoming shows this FALL and KG and I are currently wood shedding a whole new batch of songs. WHAT? Yeah, we just put out a record earlier this year but there's a whole new one written. C'mon, that's just dumb you say. Well, maybe you're on to something. So that should be out before 2019 or 2021 for sure barring any horrific natural disasters.

OH and OUR NEW VIDEO for the song "Sad Houses" came out recently.  Check it out here:

You can also read this rad write up of it on NOISEY, if you're into rad write ups. I have to say they kinda hit the nail on the head. Thanks Noisey.

This gem was directed by our good pal Brendan Mcknight over the summer. A nice little suburban overture to take you guys and gals into the dreaded autumn. I like autumn so back off... Arrgghhh (wields rubber knife for effect. end scene).

Anyway, when I'm not typing things like arrggh, I'm further explaining the video. Brendan shot this in and around the town of Keansburg, NJ where some of us reside (note the now infamous Teenage Graceland back cover structure making its 2nd video appearance in the background!). Big thanks also to Frankie Caputo for editing this for us, Colleen Kamen for her killer acting, Brian Truchan for getting glass stuck in his foot running around in costume, Christopher Brown for somehow finding us in the woods and smokin cigs, and Abbey the dog.

Okay. That's that.  Anyways, enjoy the big show, which is like life or something like it. Check the link on the side for some upcoming shows we're working on. Sooooo loooooooooooooong.

NEW VIDEO for "Shitty Parade" OUT NOW!

Hey gang.

Our newest video premiered recently over at Brooklyn Vegan for the single off our hot off the plates LP Teenage Graceland.  The track in question is none other than "Shitty Parade," your grandma's favorite song to tell her friends about.

Check it out below.

SHITTY PARADE

YES.  Surprisingly enough, it IS radio friendly.

The video was directed by our bud Anthony Palma from the great band Wild Rice, with assistance from Josh Stavola. Also, thanks to our friends Colleen and Shannon for helping and hanging out.

Stick that in your pipe and snuff it out.

More to come. HANG TIGHT.... and hang loose.

TEENAGE GRACELAND is a reality

Hey everyone. After a long absence from the blogger scene, the brick mower machine is back writing some shit. Basically, this blog is first damn thing that comes up in Google, and then someone posted on twitter it looks like we broke up. Well if not updating a blog means we broke up, then shit, that guy can carry the amps into the next show... Cause this ship is still sailing.

Anyways, THE BLOG IS UPDATED.  Also, a good reason to update, we have a NEW LP that came out recently on Don Giovanni Records.   Teenage Graceland, 11 brand new songs from us, by us, for you, and you, and YOU.

You can order the LP here from Don Giovanni Records, or stream it at our bandcamp.

Alright. Alright.  We're playing some shows, looking to do a tour this September. Check back soon. We should be posing a video on this site REAL SOON.   Thanks for hanging with us.  Take it easy.

More thorough update to come soon. Soon. SOOOOOOOOON.

NEW LP IS A COMIN'/ Where Have We Been?/ Where Are We Going?

The title of this blog really says it all.  Okay then. Bye!

JUST KIDDING. I wouldn't do that to you. But seriously is says it all. Manages to ask a couple questions in it too.

If you follow this blog or band (we hope band before blog), you might have noticed we've been off this forum for a little bit. Well, sometimes typing gets too damn tedious, and you gotta get off the computer. But in reality, we were putting the finishing touches on some stuff, playing a few shows, and generally sluggishly limping through the winter. SO, what's new with us....?

OUR NEW LP Teenage Graceland will be released on LP via Don Giovanni Records on March 25th!!!

YOU CAN PRE-ORDER at the Don Giovanni Records webstore HERE!

Also, a post beforehand would have done some good but can't relive the past. (That's good advice everyone since it is impossible).  We got to play the 2014 Don Giovanni Records Showcase this year at the Music  Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, and it funking ruled.  Thanks to Joe and Zach for another awesome year.  Below's a video of reasonable audio, but pristine picture quality of us playing our song "Punched Out." Check out those moves!!!!  The part where Kitsin spins on her head while walkin' up the bass Mingus-style is nuts!

So anyways, pre-order the LP. We're having 2 record release shows March 21st (in Brooklyn at the Acheron) and March 22nd (in New Brunswick, NJ at Cooler Ranch).  Please check the tour dates link on the sidebar for details.

More info to come on that.

FINALLY, we're going to be heading out on a 3 week tour starting April 18th.  Tour dates and locations will be announced soon as we stitch this thing together with a dull needle and tangled twine.

THANKS!  See ya's sooner than we did the last post.  The wheel's are turning again on the rusty machine.

Back On the Blacktop: A Holiday Metal Mix (and a TOUR tomorrow)

No... it's not a holiday metal mix.  It's just the title to this blog.

But like the rest of the title says, we, the brick mower foundation, are hitting the road to spread a little New Jersey cheer for the holidays.  And where are we going?   Well, get a load of this..... (below. look down.)

Check out that kid and his fucking whuppin' stick.

Yeah, that's where we'll be. Actually, that's a slight lie.  12/7 in Michigan has hit the skids, and we're now without a show. If by chance, you read this and can help between Cleveland and Chicago, get in touch with us via facebook or vikingoncampus@gmail.com

And for the rest of the dates, well here's where they're at:

12/5- Utica, NY @ The Dev
12/6- Cleveland, OH @ Mosh Eisley w/ Nona, All Dogs
12/7- HELP!
12/8- Chicago, IL @ Quenchers w/ brickfight, Rad Payoff
12/9- Springfield, IL @ The Black Sheep
12/10- St. Louis, MO @ Lemmons w/ Breakmouth Annie
12/11- Bloomington, IN @ The Owlery
12/12- Lexington, KY @ Al's Sidecar
12/13- Columbus, OH @ Dinotopia
12/14- Pittsburgh, PA @ 222 Ormsby

So there you have it then.

Also, record update:  It's done being mixed. About to go to press. Whoa!

ALSO, MARK YOUR CALENDERS.  The DON GIOVANNI RECORDS Showcase for 2014 is up and announced. We'll be at the Music Hall of Williamsburg on February 8th w/ Black Wine, Priests, California X, and Screaming Females.  Get your tickets. They'll be online soon.

Go to all 3 shows of the showcase. Go on. Don't be a stick in the mud.

Also, also, big thanks to our buddies in Dinged Up, and everyone at Wallride Manor in Mayrland.  If you haven't heard Dinged Up, or aren't familiar with Wallride Records... please take the time.  DAMN! Quality, quality, quality.  Got to play two great shows with Dinged Up this past weekend, and we were beyond stoked!

Well, that's it for now.  Gotta pack my toothbrush.

Thanks everyone.

Update From the Studio/December Mid-West Tour

Hello folks!  Happy Halloween in the post-sense of the holiday greeting, as we've now embarked fearlessly and animalisticly into the great abyss of November.  Which reminds me; If you are reading this before 2 am East Coast time, turn your clocks back one hour!!!  It's time to embrace that extra hour of darkness until late March, turning us all into flabby, wanna-be poets, and whiskey guzzlin' miscreants.

So we've been off the beaten path publicly in the past month! But in that past month, we celebrated our 4th year as a band! How 'bout that?  Also, as previously reported, we've been working on our forth-coming LP, and 3rd total.  Here's some pictures of the scene of the crime, mostly of inanimate objects!!!

The LP is currently being mixed and mastered and will be out in early 2014!

ALSO, this weekend we are playing doing a quick weekend tour up in Massachusetts with our pals Gnards.  Hopefully the rioting from the Red Sox World Series victory will have subsided by then as we wish to have our tour vehicle remain right-side up on all 4 tires during our stay. Please.

11/8- Worcester, MA @ The Firehouse w/ The Young Leaves, Real Good, Gnards 8 PM

Email us at vikingoncampus@gmail.com for addresses and additional info.

FINALLY, we're heading out to the mid-west in December for a quick run through the rust belt, bourbon trail, and any other silly names given to areas with strictly regional appeal.  The schedule is below.  Some help is needed in spots and if you can provide any help on the highlighted stuff (aka, Pennsylvania), please email us @ vikingoncampus@gmail.com

THE DECEMBER SHOWS!!!

12/5- ANYWHERE, PA (HELP)

12/6- Cleveland, OH @ Mosh Eisley

12/7- Kalamazoo, MI @ TBA

12/8- Chicago, IL @ Township

Additionally, we're playing a couple shows with our buds Dinged Up from MD at the end of November, along with some local jaunts.   Thanks for hanging with us, and thanks for checking in over the past 4 weird years!

Take it easy, but not too easy.  And we'll leave you with this...

Kitsin's mother hammering a knife into a head of cabbage!

Success, as Kitsin's mother splits the head of cabbage into quarter sections for easier boiling!

Hittin' the Studio....

Hey everyone.

YES!

Brick MOWER

2013

THIS YEAR

THAT IS

WHAT

We

r

sayin....

If that didn't pump you UP!, then Mr. or Ms. Soulless wonder, I don't k now what will. So howdy to all who check in on this blog.  Managed to abandoned it for a month or so. What can we say? August got hot, and our sweaty fingers couldn't figure out how to work these keyboards.

SOOOO.... brick mower WILL be heading into the studio this weekend to record our followup LP to last year's My Hateable Face LP.  It'll have 10 or 11 tracks (or something like that) and we'll post some picture and the like as it happens.

Also, we've been kicking around the area after our month long tour that ended in June.  Should've posted about these earlier, but we ended up playing some pretty sweet shows at Boyd Park in New Brunswick with Black Wine, California X, Screaming Females with Chris Gethard as the gracious host this month. Also played a killer show at Ithaca College with Screaming Females and Speedy Ortiz.  Thanks a ton to Joe and Zach at Don Giovanni for setting up the Boyd park show last week, and for everyone who came out and braved the sun.

Here's some Boyd park pictures:

Boy, what a rush.

Also, here's a cool video someone posted of us playing our new song, "Georgia Glass," in Minot, ND. This was mere hours before we attempted to drive all night to Missoula, but got eaten alive by blinding mountain fog at 4 am.  Best gas station nap of our lives!

Take care for now.  More news to come- brick mower lives.

Summer Is Still Happening? WTF?

Hey guys. Eric here, holding down Summer Camp brick mower over here.  Arts and crafts is almost over, then it's off to the swimming hole, followed by touch volley ball, and three legged manhunt. But not before drinking a whole gallon of bug juice.

In more news, we have a couple of split 7'' releases that we're in talks with that'll probably see release later this year.

Yes, we'll be playing with Screaming Females, California X, and Black Wine!  Show starts at 1 PM @ Boyd Park, and it's all gonna be hosted by Chris Gethard.   The facebook event page is below:

2013 US TOUR WRAP UP!/ New LP Details/ Sumer Vactaion

HELLO WORLD!  It has been some time since we've been on the trusty brick mower blog.  The reason being, we were out on full US tour for some time.  Well, again, not full. Sorry to the south east, but we'll see ya soon enough.

We actually have been back for a bit, and this blog is long overdue.  Some spots we've played almost a month a half ago when we started the tour!!!  Jeez, how the time flies like mosquitos at a BBQ, know what I'm sayin'?   No? Okay.

First and foremost, THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED US BOOK THIS TOUR, FED US, HOUSED US, SHOWERED US WITH FOOD, DRINKS, AND SOMETIMES SHOWERS!  Really could not do it without the amazing support we received yet again from so many friends, old and new.

And, we'd like to thank our buddy Vincent Castellano (ex-Hooking Up, current Baby Clothes), for joining us for the entire tour!  He hopped in our vehicle at our first show in Richmond, VA, and a month later we dropped him off at his house in Virginia Beach on our way back from Raleigh, NC.  Damn.

Anyway, here's some tour stats:

Miles Traveled: 9742
Total Shows: 31 (plus 2 when we got home)
Total States played: 19
New States played: 0 (damn, 7 more to go)
Broken strings: 2
Canceled shows: 1
Items lost on tour: 1 bag of food with ink and screen-printing squeegee inside.
Times Vincent, our tour guy said "What in the world?":  70+
Times Eric threw-up because of the fucking heat: 2
Best bands we played with for first time:  Dead Dog, Hot Dolphin, The Reptilian, Wolf Blood, Chapstick, Baby Ghosts, Daikon, City Mouse, Low Culture, Dahling, The Estacada, Knights Templar

Here's some pictures to commemorate one semi-smelly month across the US, around, and back.

This place had their priories straight.

 Arlo, The Wrathchild of Montana!

Well, wasn't that something.  It's like we never left....um, all the places that we left, before going to more and then leaving them....   Yeah!

So, it's now summer and what the hell does that mean for us.

WE'RE WORKING ON OUR THIRD LP!    We plan to hit the studio in late August to commit this one to tape.  Looking like an 11 song record that's scheduled to come out on Don Giovanni Records hopefully by the end of the year.  More info will be spreading slowly.

That's about it for now.  We'll be in the NJ area for a bit, woodshedding this recording.  If you're visiting the area, hit us up and say 'SUP!

Take it easy.

Also, if you missed it, our video for "Frozen Firecracker" came out last month.  You can watch it below.
